Gragnani, through the subsidiary Terminal Rinfusi Mediterraneo Srl,
is a founding member of Terminal Calata Orlando (TCO, www.tco.it
). which has the concession from the port authorities to operate
the only bulk cargo wharf in Livorno.
he
wharf is 450 metres long, with a draught of about 9.1 m. It has
a three line railway connection and an area of 27,000 square metres
used for storage of bulk products and general cargo as well as a
large storage facility in the Customs area (Livorno customs office
number 066V).
CO
has made important investments in the bulk wharf facilities over
the last seven years, since it began operations in Livorno: modernising
the wharf and installing the latest Fantuzzi Reggiane self-moving
cranes: an investment of more than € 5,000,000 which has significantly
increased daily throughput and attracted new clients and traffic
in new types of goods.
he
4 new cranes have an operational range of up to 35 meters. The bucket
can reach up to 24 metres and their estimated average capacity is
about 1200/1500 tonnes per working shift, depending on the type
of material moved.
t
the end of the year 2000 the important target of one million tonnes
per year of bulk throughput was reached. In 2002 the figure had
increased to 1,251,000 and growth is expected to continue in the
coming years.
n
addition to its shareholding in Terminal Calata Orlando (TCO) Giorgio
Gragnani is also one of its important customers, regularly using
its excellent facilities for bulk cargo transfers.
